A photo taken outside the Colosseum in Rome a few years ago. I had made a trip to Rome and was keen to photograph inside the Colosseum, but after seeing the queue to get in, I decided against it…sat on a wall, and tried to think where to go next. A young couple had obviously had the same idea and tried to avoid the long walk to the next street.
After helping her climb the wall, he couldn’t manage to get over himself - so there they were, in the middle of Rome, both stuck on different sides of the wall.
A competition is being run today, and for the next month, in City Living magazine for a limited edition 22×17″ print of Taxi passing Radio City Music Hall, NYC (2004), worth £125…..(sorry, its not for a month, its for a couple of weeks only!)
For those of you who would like to see some more of my commercial work - rather than fine art sales - you can visit www.craigholmes.com.

This photo was taken a few years back when I was compiling a series of photographs from French parks. This particular black and white photograph was taken at the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris.
Well, before you take a close look at the photo you need to know that Parisians are pretty outgoing when it comes to passion - whether indoors or out. I had passed this particular couple about an hour previously on the way out of the park, and on the way back, they were still at it, but things had heated up a bit. Snap, just one pic and moved on.
This print is popular with women for some reason.

Well, thats the last of the black and white series of flower photos uploaded to the Crowded Gallery web site.
I really enjoy photographing the flowers, and they have sold well recently, but I am all ‘flowered out’ at the moment. They really take every ounce of technical lighting knowledge to do well - even one flower can take hours and hours to do. So, I think a break is due…well, at least a cup of tea.
Out of interest, there is an RSS Feed from the Crowded Gallery which will let you know when new photographs are added to the gallery.
Six new flowers have come in from the florist I use. Everything from sunflowers to agapanthus (no, I have no idea either). This will form the continuing series of black and white flower images.
…..The photography of the flowers went pretty well, and I’ll be uploading to the gallery over the next few days. I suspect this will be the last of the flower series for a while, as I am looking forward to more of the travel work again….just got to plan where to go next.
