Digging out some cuttings during the process of moving both home and office, some were great coverage, some not so! The principle of ‘all publicity being good publicity’ doesn’t apply to photography. A couple of years back I travelled round New York for a short time, and one of the images I was after, was of the NY subway system. Each day I got some shots, but on the last day I was heading back to pack and saw a little old nun holding a stars and stripes handbag on the platform.
Using a rangefinder at the time, I managed two photos, but it is so dark down there (and using slow(ish) speed film) that I was only happy with this one. I also like the black and white version of this photo - but for gallery sales, I have stuck with the colour version (updated: I now sell both colour and black & white)
I have been photographing a ridiculous amount of fashion work at the moment, so haven’t really had much time to make new additions to the gallery. That will change soon…I think. In the mean time, here is a fashion photo taken a few days ago, for those who asked to see more fashion photos.
In fact, speaking generally, this is the busiest time of the year for a lot of photographers. I had a fifteen minute break today between jobs and worked out that last week I took over 4000 digital photographs - now that is a lot of time spent sorting out images.

I am in need of an occasional photographers assistant – couple of days a month I guess. The commissions side of the business covers everything from fashion to architecture and just sometimes I need someone to help my 35 year old bones carry things up flights of stairs, shine lights at models, and smile at clients. The pay is fair, the hours can be long, there is usually lots of lifting, and he or she still needs to be smiling at the end of a day. They also need to be based in the Birmingham area and be fairly smart.
If anyone springs to mind, they can have a look at my website (www.craigholmes.com) and they can email me from that, letting me know about themselves. Of course, they need to be interested in photography….but don’t really need experience.
UPDATE: we now have a couple of willing hands, thanks everyone.

A new project is underway photographing Birmingham in black and white, which will culminate in a book next year. Here is one of the first images which is now available as a limited edition print in the Crowded Gallery.
There is also an RSS Feed from the Crowded Gallery which will let you know when new photographs are added to the gallery.
